Hello,

Recently I moved my cpanel account to another server, after that, I am getting '403 Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server' error.

How can I fix this error?

It is usually related to folder/file permission. If you are using shared hosting then contact your hosting provider to fix the issue.

Please follow these steps to fix the 403 forbidden error:
  1. .htaccess file
  2. Reset file and folder permissions
  3. Or if you are use WordPress website then kindly disabled the plugin.

Click on . htaccess file and reset all file and folders permission and also disable Wordpress plugins then that error code will go and it'll work fine.

The 403 Forbidden error is an HTTP status code that indicates that the page you are trying to access is forbidden for some reason.

3 reasons for 403 Forbidden Error:

1. Empty httpdocs directory - Your website contents must have been uploaded to the correct directory on your server.

Note: example.com must have replaced with your own domain name.

2. Missed Index File - Your website's index file (index.php or index.html) must have been uploaded to your httpdocs directory.

In case you have already uploaded it as home.php or home.html, rename the file as index.php or index.html. Make a redirection to your index page to your real home page. Set a different default home page in your .htaccess file.

3. Permissions and ownership errors - A 403 Forbidden error can also be caused due to inappropriate ownership or permissions on your web content files and folders.

Thumb rule for the right permissions:

Folders: 755
Static Content: 644
Dynamic Content: 700

Hey there...

it should be due to permission error. Ensure that you folder has correct permission/ownership.
If you are getting this error while trying to make any changes, check modsecurity on your account and try disabling it.
