Hi,

I have a question. I know several type tools google page speed or pingdom to see how long it takes to load a website and how to improve the loading time. But between two sites hosted on different hosting is hard to compare because it does not know if the hosting and optimization web that makes loading fast or slow, probably both, or even your internet connection or your physical location. Is there any way to know the speed of loading a hosting? How to know how well your hosting?

Greetings

  • A What do you mean to say loading speed ??
If you want to measure the download speed just download the same file from hosting accounts and will have the average download speed.
If you mean the response time, here the result can be different .... and that the ping you can get different results depending on the hours as it can in a certain time the server is saturated and at another time go very fast. All you can do is create a small script is php or other language to show you the time it takes to run with any questions. And run on multiple servers at different times and see what results you get Regards.

When selecting cheap website hosting, be sure that the web host provider is trustworthy. Try to ask around people about their perceptions on the web host company. What they can say about it?

The speed of your server is one of the most important issues when choosing the definitive hosting service. Unfortunately there is no way to know the metrics you need until you hire a plan, because you do not know which machine they will assign you in, in the case that it is a shared hosting.

here is a list of tools that, in addition to measuring the loading time, allow us to know what factors we can improve so that our websites load in a much faster and optimized way.

    GTmetrix

GTmetrix is one of the most complete tools that we can use when evaluating the load of a web page: unifies Google Page Speed and Yahoo! YSlow in a single interface. It shows improvement recommendations by means of color graphics, to which it scores from A to F ( A is better, F , worse) and from 0 to 100. It also presents a timeline in which it represents the requests and queries, starting to end We also have GTmetrix PRO, a paid version that starts at $ 15 a month and allows you to monitor and store a larger number of URLs, and even generate white label reports in PDF.
    Code:
    http://gtmetrix.com/

    Pingdom

Pingdom is one of the best and most reliable of its kind. Through the test it performs, it rates (from 0 to 100) the speed, it monitors the number of requests executed, the loading time and the total size of the web page. But there is still more: it shows the reports generated in cascade form, indicating all the elements that were downloaded, their size, the URL in which they are hosted, the response of the server and the individual loading time.
    Code:
    https://tools.pingdom.com/

    Load Impact

Load Impact runs a stress and stress test on the web page that you indicate. It has two versions: one free and one paid. The free one carries out a load simulation with 50 users. The information obtained is represented in the form of graphs and by means of a map.
    Code:
    http://loadimpact.com/

With these 3 test tools you can have a clearer idea of whether it suits you or not to continue with your current hosting service.

    Regards :)

Testing speed of host is not complicated, but it is not very simple either. Here I can explain, how to test the speed of the host. Basically speed is a measure on how fast can the data be transmitted between the visitor browser and the hosting server.

Ping: You can test a first type of speed by pinging the server. That can be done at the MS-DOS prompt with a simple command: ping serverID, where server ID is either a domain name (e.g. C:>ping yahoo.com), either an IP (e.g. C:> ping 128.65.134.89).

Traceroute: Another way to measure speed is traceroute. Obviously this traces the route between the computer and the server. As the information goes from your computer to the server, it passes through a few routers. A traceroute will tell you how many routers are involved and information about the routers.
The MS-DOS command for traceroute is tracert serverID.

The results should be similar to these:
    C:WINDOWS>tracert www.demo123.com

    hi,

you can test your website on pingdom to know whether your site is causing the down time or your host.
check your site and it will give you all the details like pagetest, dns, ping and traceroute.

There are two answers to this question, actually.

One, as stated, is actual site performance which is relative to site coding, supporting infrastructure, etcetera.

Two, which is I believe the question you're asking, is the nominal response time to a request presuming a perfectly coded site with a perfect or no backend along with DNS response times.

For many years, I've relied on a company called Netcraft, which is widely regarded as one of the best neutral monitors of host performance. They perform active monitoring of over 40 major hosting providers, including performance and uptime analysis, and provide this data for free on their website.

Just as you were saying, it can be very difficult to see where things may be going slow. If you are at a hosting firm and your site is going slow. The first thing I would advise is to see how much system load your site is pushing on that server. If the system load is low then that would indicate that the internet connection or location is the reason for the slow response time.

    Hello!
There is no such thing as 'hosting' speed. It is the page speed of your website. You can measure the page speed by the tools you already mentioned
Google now has its own speed testing tools available
