  • You may look for a host which uses solid-state drives, as they are faster and more reliable than traditional hard drives. You may take a look at the web hosting plans by BGOcloud to see if they match your needs. How much disk space do you need in fact? Also, this host includes CloudFlare CDN in its plans - it improves website's speed and performance. Also, one more question - have you optimized your site - for example, have you reduced the size of your images, the number of plugins, do you use Gzip compression, have you reduced redirects, etc. ?

the major difference between varied hostings is managed and self-managed.

    Managed hosting: like Bluehost/Hostgator
Pros: they take care of everything
Cons: Pricy and limited control over server resources.

    Self-managed hosting: like Vultr/Linode/DO
Pros: quite affordable price and full control over the server resources
Cons: you're all on your own.

Since speed and low price are the things you are pursuing, here is a solution for you:

Buy a start server plan from Vultr/Linode/Do, you will get 1 GB RAM, 20-25GB storage, and 1TB bandwidth from a start plan from them that costs $5/mon, which are more than sufficient for the installtion of a wordpress site. Manage the server with the free VPSrobots, as described here: https://vpsrobots.com/documents/how-to-manage-vultr-vps-with-vpsrobots.html

Also, make sure the server location(database center) you choose is not too far from your target clients, this would also give a boost in speed(decrease load time).

You should check hosting providers that can offer you a cheap plan for start and later you can upgrade this plan if needed. In that way, you will save some money.

To the above I can say that you can choose hosting company by price and then contact them I think they will help you to choose right hosting type. Also you can read reviews and forums

If you are looking to host a website like wordpress, then choose plan like WordPress Hosting. SSD hositng plans are good too. Also there have some cons in theese types of hosting. For example in Wordpress hosting you can't create email acconts and you can't host more sites like Joomla or something like that.

    Hi :shy:

Here are some basic info on the different types of hosting.
    • Shared Hosting- This is the type of hosting most entry level users opt for. It is very basic. Shared hosting is definitely very cheap but if you're looking for speed, reliability and safety, this is not the way to go. Because in shared hosting, users are required to share the resources among each other. While this can slow down your server and even cause major downtime issues, safety is also at risk here.
    • Virtual Private Servers- A VPS is one of the many virtual servers hosted on one physical server. Unlike shared hosting though, in this type of hosting users do not share resources since all the virtual servers act as separate dedicated machines. VPS hosting uses "hypervisors" to manage each and every VPS. While VPS is costlier than shared hosting, it provides you with a private environment to customize your server and it is much safer. However, scalability of virtual servers is low and their availability too cannot be fully guaranteed.
    • Dedicated Hosting- In Dedicated Hosting the server is a physical dedicated machine that is owned by you and placed in a data centre. Dedicated servers are highly redundant, powerful, secure and fast. However scalability of dedicated servers are low and they are costlier than all types of servers.
    • Cloud Hosting- Cloud Hosting means that a vast network of physical servers are connected to create a virtual space for hosting servers called "The Cloud". Cloud servers are not as expensive as dedicated servers, they are highly scalable, uptime and availability is very high, they're super fast and secure as well.

    Hope this helped.

    1. Shared hosting
Perfect for entry-level website hosting. This is where your website will be stored on the same server as multiple other websites, that could be anywhere between hundreds or thousands of others.
All domains will share the same server resources.

    2. Virtual private server (VPS) hosting
A VPS hosting service mimics a dedicated server, but is within a shared hosting environment. This one’s for website owners that need more control, but don’t want to invest in a dedicated server. They’re still not able to handle high traffic levels or spikes in usage and the site performance can still be affected by other sites on the server.

    3. Dedicated server hosting
This option gives website owners the most control over the server that their website is stored on. The server is exclusively rented by you and your website is the only one stored on the server. You have full root and admin access, which means control over everything from security to operating system. All that control comes with a price.

    4. Cloud hosting

Cloud hosting is the current buzzword of the hosting industry. It’s just a marketing term and “Cloud” can mean different things in different contexts. With hosting, it means many computers working together, running applications using combined computing resources. It’s a hosting solution that works via a network, like the internet, and enables companies to consume the computing resource like a utility e.g. gas or electricity.

    5. Managed hosting
Most hosting packages you are likely to find online will be managed. Hosting companies provide technical services such as hardware and software setup and configuration, maintenance, hardware replacement, technical support, patching, updating and monitoring. Unlike standard dedicated hosting, the hosting provider looks after the day-to-day management of the hardware, operating systems and standardised applications.

These are the major web hosting services.

With all the different sorts of Web Hosting available, it can be quite confusing as to which one is suitable for you. Do you choose shared web hosting, a Virtual Private Server hosting, or a Dedicated server hosting? I will cover the basics of the different types of Hosting plans so you can find which type is the best one for you.

    Hosting Platform Analogies
    Shared Hosting
Shared Web Hosting is quite similar to residing in an Apartment Complex. All the residents are in the same location and must share the resources which are available with everyone including the parking lot, pool, and playground. Similarly, in shared hosting, all websites must share the available resources with all the other websites on the server. These include memory, CPU time, and disk space. The System Admins monitor all of the shared servers.

    VPS Hosting
VPS Hosting is quite similar to owning a Condo. While you still share resources on the property, you are ultimately responsible for maintaining and repairs inside the condo. There are also comparatively fewer residents per building.

In VPS hosting, not all resources are shared. The overall memory and CPU time are shared across all websites on the machine, but at the same time, portions of those resources are always dedicated to each website. This allows for more power and flexibility than being on shared hosting.

    Dedicated Hosting
Dedicated Server Hosting can be compared to owning an entire house. You have access to all the resources available on the machine and none of the websites except yours resides on the server (your house).

These are the six types of web hosting you will most often come across:
    1. Shared hosting- Perfect for entry-level website hosting. This is where your website will be stored on the same server as multiple other websites, that could be anywhere between hundreds or thousands of others.
    2. Virtual private server (VPS) hosting- A VPS hosting service mimics a dedicated server, but is within a shared hosting environment. This one’s for website owners that need more control, but don’t want to invest in a dedicated server.
    3. Dedicated server hosting- This option gives website owners the most control over the server that their website is stored on. The server is exclusively rented by you and your website is the only one stored on the server.
    4. Cloud hosting- Cloud hosting is the current buzzword of the hosting industry. It’s just a marketing term and “Cloud” can mean different things in different contexts.
    5. Managed hosting-Most hosting packages you are likely to find online will be managed. Hosting companies provide technical services such as hardware and software setup and configuration, maintenance, hardware replacement, technical support, patching, updating and monitoring.

  • There are mainly 3 types of hosting:
    1. Shared: Cheapest web hosting
This is for start or entry-level businesses or websites. Here you can imagine 1 server is divided for multiple websites using the shared services like disc space, CPU, memory
But it has the drawback of low security.
    2. VPS/Cloud: moderate
When your site is popular and has a medium level of traffic.
When you don't want to use a shared or dedicated server you can choose the option of VPS Hosting
    3. Dedicated: Costly Web hosting
A single large dedicated server is provided to use as like your own house, having your own space, memory, cpu.
